About Brickships;
Hello, happy to see you here! My name is Yann Müller and I'm the creator and sole person behind brickships.ch.
For as long as I can remember, building Lego models has been part of my life, and a hobby I always loved doing. Military models and ships especially soon became a genre I "specialized" myself in, always with the goal to recreate the vehicles as accurately as possible.
At one point after seeing several other people post and offer their models online, I asked myself if I could do this as well. So in Autumn 2020 I started to design the first models with this purpose in mind.
I wanted to lay my focus on warships, as I felt that these vehicles generally didn't see much attention in the Lego community. So I started to build a new series of models, which would be large enough to offer many details, while being small enough to keep the price in an affordable range. The first model created was the IJN Yamato, which led to the creation of my 1:485 scale, which almost all following ship models are built in.
In February 2021 I then posted the first images online on my Instagram account. Soon more and more ships gradually joined the lineup. Aircraft Carriers, Battleships, Cruisers, Destoryers and Submarines, from almost all major factions of the war. After a while I also started to build several "non-ship" models . Planes, cars, dioramas and tanks, whatever I was motivated to build.
A personal highlight marks the privilege to have had a collaboration with a Dutch Navy Officer, together with whom I recreated all major ship classes of the Dutch Navy. This led to a great new friendship, as well as several life changing decisions and opportunities.
While I still love building models to this day, things in live go on and change. Currently being in University and studying Physics, the time available for this hobby has gotten a lot less. Nonetheless I enjoy every second of it an plan to keep doing this hobby for as long as possible and to keep pushing the limits of what's possible to build in Lego.
If you have any questions about the models, instructions or the website, feel free to contact me at brickships.ch@gmail.com or via my Instagram account. Any suggestions for improvements or future projects are also always welcome.
